The Baroque Single Malt Whisky Company’s Premium Range consists of three limited single cask releases, and this first-fill French Oak, Ex-Botrytis matured expression stands comfortably between modest elegance and confident character. It offers a thoughtful balance of richness, structure, and individuality for collectors who appreciate refined craftsmanship.

The nose begins with a gentle tingle, followed by layered aromas of mandarin, oranges, muscat, dried grapes, and soft sweet-wine tones. Yellow melon and honeyed dessert-wine notes emerge gradually, shaped in part by the influence of the French oak, which contributes gentle spice, warm wood, and a subtle toasted note. There is also a discernible Armagnac-like character, polished oak, dried apricot, and light rancio that integrates smoothly with the fruity core.

On the palate, the whisky presents balanced sweetness without becoming overly indulgent. Muscat, orange zest, soft honey, and lightly stewed stone fruit appear with clarity, supported by the steady, structured presence of the French oak. The mouthfeel is notably well-formed: full yet composed, silky while still offering texture. It dances on the tongue with a measured heat that brings a sweet-and-hot luscious quality, delivering warmth without sharpness.

As the initial grape and sugar sweetness fades, a gentle umami note emerges, a subtle but engaging shift that adds depth without feeling out of place. This transition offers an appealing counterpoint to the fruit, giving the whisky a quiet complexity that rewards slower sipping.

This release also celebrates Baroque Whisky’s formal entry into the world of premium cocktails through a curated group of partner bars. From oak selection through maturation and bottling, every variable has been meticulously tuned not only to shine neat, but to elevate classic whisky cocktails to absolute stratospheric levels, with intent and clarity. Our Single French Oak ex Botrytis cask, bottled at 49.5% ABV is a profile that was deliberately shaped for the Whisky Sour, where lemon brightness, demerara sugar, and egg whites amplify the cask’s natural balance of sweetness, acidity, and silkiness.

Each Premium Series expression is non-chill filtered, hand-bottled without colouring, individually numbered, and limited to just 60 bottles. Once released, these expressions will not be repeated.

Upon completion of a purchase, the customer’s selected payment method will be charged in full, and a receipt displayed on The Baroque Whisky website. A copy of the above mentioned receipt will also be emailed to the customer.

We use a range of shipping providers depending on your location around Australia, the shipping provider of choice may change. Upon completion of your order, we will send your order details along with the shipping provider number and any tracking information if applicable.

Baroque Whisky can only ship to addresses in Australia via Australia Post. Overseas customers are encouraged to make contact with us, regarding overseas shipments, using the contact us form.

On average, we expect that you will receive your Baroque Whisky order within 5-7 business days.

Refund and Return Policy

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to choose a refund or replacement for any major failure with our products, or have the failure rectified with a replacement, repair or refund (at our discretion).
