The Baroque Single Malt Whisky Company’s Premium Range presents three limited single-cask releases, each with its own quiet personality, and this first-fill American oak, ex-bourbon expression offers a modest yet genuinely engaging take on classic maturation. It feels crafted for collectors who appreciate complexity delivered with restraint rather than extravagance.

The nose is notably subdued at first, more like an old tawny without the expected fruitiness. Instead, gentle cedar leads, joined by soft floral hints that sit in the background, suggesting violets rather than brighter blossoms. With time, a lift of ripe banana emerges, adding a touch of warmth and familiarity. The American oak influence remains subtle yet supportive, providing structure without overwhelming the aroma. It’s a nose that rewards patience.

On the palate, the whisky reveals greater intensity, showing a level of concentration reminiscent of a younger George T. Stagg, though presented with far more composure. High-cocoa dark chocolate appears early, followed by cedar wood, candied orange dipped in dark chocolate, and a firm orange astringency that leans toward pith and orange esters. The interplay of citrus bitterness, chocolate richness, and oak dryness creates a complex but balanced profile. The ABV contributes welcome vitality and lift, keeping the whisky bright and energetic rather than heavy.

As it develops, a softer, sweeter note appears in the form of sugar-dusted Turkish delight, offering a gentle counterpoint to the darker flavours. The mouthfeel is steady and well-shaped, neither too thick nor too light but providing enough weight to carry its flavours while still feeling composed. It moves across the palate with measured confidence.

The finish is long and clean, with black licorice emerging as the final accent, joined by lingering chocolate and a faint citrus edge. The result is a whisky that feels quietly confident: complex, intense in places, but ultimately balanced and unpretentious. It offers connoisseurs a thoughtfully crafted expression that rewards slow appreciation without demanding it.

From oak selection through maturation and bottling, every variable has been meticulously tuned not only to shine neat, but to elevate classic whisky cocktails to absolute stratospheric levels, with intent and clarity. Our Single American Oak ex Bourbon cask delivers it's clearest intent in the Old Fashioned, where demerara sugar, Angostura and Aztec chocolate bitters, and a sliver of salted chocolate echo and intensify the cask’s inherent sweetness and spice.

Each Premium Series expression is non-chill filtered, hand-bottled without colouring, individually numbered, and limited to just 60 bottles. Once released, these expressions will not be repeated.

By processing a transaction through The Baroque Whisky website, the customer bears the full expense of the product(s) being purchased and the shipping cost(s) to receive that product. The exception to this shipping charge relates to orders totalling AUD$300 or more, for delivery within Australia.

International customers are encouraged to contact us prior to placing any order(s) for deliveries outside of Australia.

Upon completion of a purchase, the customer’s selected payment method will be charged in full, and a receipt displayed on The Baroque Whisky website. A copy of the above mentioned receipt will also be emailed to the customer.

We use a range of shipping providers depending on your location around Australia, the shipping provider of choice may change. Upon completion of your order, we will send your order details along with the shipping provider number and any tracking information if applicable.

Baroque Whisky can only ship to addresses in Australia via Australia Post. Overseas customers are encouraged to make contact with us, regarding overseas shipments, using the Contact-Us form.

On average, we expect that you will receive your Baroque Whisky order within 5-7 business days.

Refund and Return Policy

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to choose a refund or replacement for any major failure with our products, or have the failure rectified with a replacement, repair or refund (at our discretion).
