MMXXV Edition I, Tennessee Whiskey Cask

A finite ultra-premium Australian Single Malt matured in a rare ex-Tennessee Whiskey cask, built to find where American whiskey oak, structural dryness and Australian climate concentration meet. Charcoal mellowed structure from the Lincoln County Process, carried without overt sweetness. Specification

Australian Single Malt whisky. Single cask: a Limited Edition Heavy Toast Barrel of American oak, made to age a 150th Anniversary (1866 to 2016) Tennessee Whiskey release. 61.13% ABV, natural cask strength. Non-chill filtered, natural colour. Sixty bottles, individually numbered 1 to 60. One of 180 bottles across the MMXXV trilogy, and no more will be made.

Collectors in the United States may now secure this edition through the trade. The house fulfils orders from wholesalers nationally and from retailers in California, Florida, New York and New Jersey, and trade buyers are invited to place orders through the Contact page.

Nose

Restrained and notably dry on opening, with lemon peel, cut hay and warm stone over a fine cereal grain base. Air rewards patience here. A clear citrus lift builds across ten minutes rather than arriving all at once.

Palate

Lean and direct. Green apple and under ripe pear meet a sour mash grain core, with a herbal, almost leafy edge that keeps the whisky taut. The texture is lightly oily rather than heavy, and the cask strength carries flavour without heat.

Finish

The finish is where this whisky gathers. Long and clean, building citrus, dry grain and a gentle tingling spice, with no sweetness to lean on and none required.

The Cask

The cask behind MMXXV Edition I is rare by origin. It is a Limited Edition Heavy Toast Barrel of American oak, made to age a 150th Anniversary (1866 to 2016) Tennessee Whiskey release. Baroque matured its Australian Single Malt in that barrel, and Edition I is the result: sixty individually numbered bottles from a cask that cannot be sourced again.

Maturation

Australian maturation drives repeated thermal movement through the cask, pulling spirit deeper into oak and back out again. Extraction and concentration rise, evaporation reduces yield, and an uncommon American whiskey cask provenance is reinterpreted under pressure it would never meet at home.

Ownership and Provenance

Every bottle carries its own number and arrives with a certificate of authenticity recording that number by hand. The certificate is encrypted, and each set carries unique features that triangulate with the house anti-counterfeiting technology, so an imitation fails at the first check. Each numbered bottle is eligible for entry in the Baroque Whisky registry of ownership. The owner's name is recorded from the day the bottle leaves Australia and the entry is maintained for 25 years from the date of purchase, so an auction house or a future buyer can have provenance verified at the source rather than taken on trust.

Serving

Built for contemplative neat consumption and unusually generous with time in the glass. A little room temperature mineral water opens both aroma and palate considerably, and the house recommends it for a first tasting. The lean structure also holds its shape in a Premium Old Fashioned.

International Deliveries, Duties and Taxes

Prices for delivery outside Australia are shown in your local currency and do not include the import duties, excise, taxes or customs clearance fees of the destination country. These are set by the destination country on the declared value of the whisky, are payable by the recipient to the carrier or customs authority before the parcel is released, and cannot be estimated by the house in advance. A parcel refused at customs, or not collected, is returned to us at the recipient’s cost, and any refund is net of the delivery and return charges.

Alcohol Deliveries Within Australia

Baroque Whisky is a trading name of The Bond Store Pty Ltd, an alcohol manufacturer licensed by the Australian Taxation Office and holder of South Australian liquor licence 57712323 (Packaged Liquor Sales) under the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 (SA). Every delivery within Australia is made in accordance with that Act and with the liquor laws of the state or territory of delivery.

Orders may be placed only by a person aged 18 years or over, and only for delivery to a person aged 18 years or over, including orders sent as gifts. It is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to, or to obtain alcohol on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years.

Every parcel is handed to an adult. The person accepting the delivery may be asked to sign a declaration that they are 18 years or over, or to show an Australian driver’s licence, an Australian proof of age card, a passport or a photographic keypass identification card. If no person aged 18 years or over is available, or proof of age is requested and not produced, the parcel will not be left and the carrier will arrange redelivery or collection.

Alcohol is never left unattended. Every parcel requires a signature on delivery, and the carrier is instructed not to leave it in a safe place.

We will not supply alcohol to a person who appears to be intoxicated, and a delivery may be withheld in that case. We do not deliver to any area where the sale, supply or possession of alcohol is prohibited or restricted by law, including declared dry areas and alcohol protected areas.

We may refuse or cancel an order, with a full refund, where we reasonably believe it has been placed by or for a person under 18 years, or that supplying it would breach the liquor laws of the state or territory of delivery.

Refund and Return Policy

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to choose a refund or replacement for any major failure with our products, or have the failure rectified with a replacement, repair or refund (at our discretion).
