Glassware
The experience of a fine whisky begins not only with the spirit itself, but with the vessel that presents it. The Glencairn glass, designed by Raymond Davidson of Glencairn Crystal and introduced in 2001 in consultation with Scotland's master blenders, was created for a singular purpose: to allow whisky to be properly understood.
Its architecture is deliberate. The wide bowl permits the whisky to breathe, encouraging gentle oxidation and the release of volatile aromatic compounds. The narrowing tulip shaped mouth concentrates these aromas, directing them precisely toward the nose while softening alcohol prickle.
Within this form, the depth and delicacy of Baroque's Premium and Ultra-Premium expressions become fully articulated. To get the most from the glass, see how to train your palate for single malt whisky, a guide to reading the nose, palate and finish a Glencairn is designed to reveal.
